If you want a very bright brushed finish on parts of your watch, the way to do this is to first polish everything to a high polish, then tape off the parts you want to stay mirror polished, and then rebrush the parts which should have a brushed finish. Take your Cape Cod Metal Polishing Cloth and just gently rub over the shiny and polished parts of your Rolex watch, and within minutes, you’d notice that these polished bits are looking brighter than ever, almost as if you’d sent it in to be professionally polished.
A light polish with a cape clod cloth will remove way less material than machine polishing car paintwork, which is very little at all. I'd not worry at all about going over the centre links with a cape cod cloth two or three times a year.
